Walk Slowly
Without haste.
Hurrying in the cold morning air.
One day, crossing the field outside the village, with a wide view of sky, I saw geese against pink dawn.
I see the picture only in my mind’s eye, for I hurried on.
If that was not enough to arrest my march, what is?

Crossing the same field today, bitter morning with the same sky, let me walk slowly and experience each moment fully, even the cold.

Consider:
Can I slow down today?

Beautiful reflection on presence. The image of missing the geese becuase of rushing really captures how urgency can rob us of actual living. I find myself doing the same thing during commutes, where I'll completly bypass noticing anything intresting just to arrive two minutes earlier. Maybe what we're really avoiding when we rush isn't the cold or discomfort but the full weight of beingpresent.
