Crowded Days
Searching for peace.
Looking across the field at this lone cabin, with its lit window, one would see little action. There would be a figure sitting in the corner, a reading silhouette. A broom leaned on the porch. Smoke rising from the fire.
Who could know, seeing this view, of the crowded day ahead of the sitting figure? Who could know, seeing this view, of the river of thought flowing through their mind as they face the day?
Who could know, as they tried to stay their mind on the present, instead of galloping ahead to the day’s challenges, of the great effort this figure put into their sitting?
❖
Great effort, a great battle, invisible to the onlooker.
Let me, the sitting one, find a way to breathe, Lord. Even this silent effort is too much, for I am battling to find peace. Let peace come, and let me cease my struggle.
– from the mountain
Consider:
Can I cease this struggle?
