Avoiding
Always my temptation.
I have been thinking about avoiding.
There are chores to be done today as the season turns.
Instead, I set out on a walk, where I will seek inspiration and a sense of nearness to you, Lord. The trail winds up and up, and through and through. It is a hard walk and I forget my cares.
Returning home, still with some light in the day, I face the shed and its clutter. I hear a voice: remove your sandals, this is hallowed ground.
❖
I thought the walk would draw me near you but it drew me away. You were here with my duties all along.
Grant me greater willingness, O Lord.

Can I cease my desire to avoid?
